The Black Patch Parade will be held on Friday, September 8th at 5:00 p.m. in downtown Princeton and is sponsored by the Princeton Optimist Club. They encourage everyone to come out and be a part of this annual activity. There is no charge to enter and you do not have to pre-register. They just ask that you be on the Butler parking lot by 4:30 p.m. to be lined up. You can enter agricultural exhibits, businesses, pageant winners or participants, vintage cars, sports teams, clubs, churches, and basically anything that you would like to show off. Also participating in this year's parade will be local children who were involved in the Princeton Rotary Club's Bicycle Safety Project. For more information about the Black Patch Parade, contact Optimist Club member George Kilgore at 270-625-3427.
Co-Grand Marshals
The Princeton Optimist Club is honored to have Twyman Boren and Richard Jones serve as their Co-Grand Marshals of the Black Patch Parade this year. "These are two men who have been serving in our community for decades, and they are both the type of men who have done it without wanting any recognition, said Optimist Club member George Kilgore. Boren served the community for over 38 years at the local radio station, WPKY. He remains active today in the Princeton Ham Radio Club. Jones is an Air Force veteran who is celebrating his 50th anniversary as a firefighter with Princeton Fire and Rescue. "The Optimist Club is proud to honor these two men who have done so much for our community," said Kilgore. "We hope everyone will come out for the parade and thank them for their years of service."
